Mature trees are one of the most attractive aspects of South Belfast life but fallen leaves, particularly after rain, can be slippery and dangerous. Council actually does not have responsibility for clearing leaves, they aren’t classed as litter, but i’ve been pressing for additional weekly cleans in the most affected streets during these last few months. If your aera has yet to recieve a clean, or more leaves have fallen since, please do contact me.
Residents will hopefully be aware that Belfast City Council has recently changed bin truck routes, with the aim of reducing costs, and that this has changed the collection day in many areas.
Unfortunately there were substantial teething problems, due to the information leaflet not reaching many areas. We worked with Waste Services and residents to help get updated info out and hopefully the service will have settled down soon.
